Your Rights

People own their own PLAIT. This is not negotiable. Your PLAITs, entries, and reflections belong to you. We are stewards, not owners.

• Ownership: You own what you create
• Agency: You control what's shared and with whom
• Sovereignty: You can leave anytime with your data

Privacy is not a feature — it's a foundation.

What We Collect

We collect only what's necessary to provide the service:

• Account information: Email, display name, authentication data
• Your content: PLAITs, entries, and reflections you create
• Community participation: Pod memberships, public interactions
• Usage patterns: Feature usage to improve the ecosystem (anonymized)

What We Never Do

• Sell your personal data to third parties
• Serve targeted advertising based on your content
• Train external AI models on your private entries
• Share your information without explicit consent
• Access your private PLAITs without your permission
• Algorithmically manipulate what you see

Your Control

You decide what's private and what's shared:

• Keep all PLAITs completely private
• Choose which entries appear on your Prosper Site
• Control Pod visibility and membership
• Export your data at any time in standard formats
• Delete your account and all associated data

Your Account

• You must be 13+ to use PLAIT (or use PLAIT Kids with guardian consent)
• You're responsible for your account security
• One person per account (no sharing credentials)
• Provide accurate information when registering
• You can delete your account at any time

Your Content

• You own what you create in PLAIT
• You grant us license to store, display, and process your content for service delivery
• Public content may be visible to other members or visitors
• You're responsible for content you share
• We may remove content that violates the Community Code

Membership Terms

• Memberships are billed monthly at $20/month
• You can cancel anytime — no contracts, no penalties
• If membership lapses, your data remains but some features pause
• Price changes announced 30 days in advance
• Refunds handled on a case-by-case basis

Enforcement & Appeals

If you violate the Community Code:

• Warning: First violation or minor issue
• Temporary restriction: Repeated or moderate violations
• Pod removal: Violations within specific communities
• Marketplace suspension: Trust violations in commerce
• Account termination: Severe or repeated violations

You can appeal any decision by emailing us. Appeals are reviewed by a different team member within 7 days.

Service Expectations

• We aim for high availability but don't guarantee 100% uptime
• We may modify features with reasonable notice
• Planned maintenance announced in advance
• Upon termination, you can request your data export

What PLAIT Is

How Data Is Protected

Your data is yours. We are stewards — temporary caretakers of information you've chosen to store with us:

• Encryption: Data encrypted in transit and at rest
• Access controls: Strict internal policies on data access
• Regular audits: Security practices reviewed and updated
• Minimal collection: We only collect what's necessary
• Secure infrastructure: Industry-standard cloud security

AI & Your Data

PLAIT's AI features serve you, not extract value from you:

• AI surfaces patterns within your own data — it doesn't learn from you to serve others
• Your entries are not used to train external AI models
• AI suggestions are generated on-demand, not stored for mining
• You can disable AI features entirely if you prefer

Data Portability

Your data should never be trapped:

• Export all your PLAITs and entries in standard formats
• Download your complete data archive at any time
• No artificial barriers to leaving

Decision-Making

PLAIT is not a democracy — it's an ecosystem with clear stewardship. Decisions are made transparently:

• Core Team: Product direction, policy, and ecosystem health
• Pod Leaders: Community norms within their Pods
• Members: Feature feedback and community input

Major policy changes are announced in advance. Member feedback shapes implementation, though final decisions rest with stewardship.

Clarity over consensus. Accountability over popularity.

How PLAITs & Pods Work

PLAITs and Pods are the core structures of the ecosystem:

PLAITs (Personal)

• Created by: Individual members
• Owned by: The person who created them
• Privacy: Private by default, shared only with explicit consent
• Deletion: Fully removable at any time

Pods (Community)

• Created by: Members who want to form a group (2-12 people)
• Stewardship: Pod Leader sets norms, within PLAIT guidelines
• Consent: Membership is invite-only, exit is always available
• Privacy: What's shared in a Pod stays in that Pod
• Dissolution: Pods can be archived or dissolved by the Pod Leader

Our Code

PLAIT is built on a simple belief: community is something you choose, not something imposed on you. We don't use algorithms to amplify engagement. We don't leverage your attention for profit. We build spaces where people practice together — safely, honestly, and with consent.

Consent First

Everything in PLAIT is consent-based:

• Pods are invite-only: No one can add you without your permission
• Connections require mutual consent: Both parties agree to connect
• Sharing is controlled: You choose what's visible and to whom
• No public browsing: Strangers can't scroll through your content
• Exit is always available: Leave any Pod or connection without friction

What We Practice

• Respect boundaries: Honor others' privacy and emotional space
• Engage authentically: Be yourself, not a performance for the algorithm
• Support growth: Witness and encourage — don't prescribe or preach
• Communicate clearly: Ask questions before assuming
• Give credit: Acknowledge others' contributions and ideas

What We Don't Allow

• Harassment: Targeting, threatening, or intimidating others
• Hate speech: Content that demeans based on identity
• Spam: Unsolicited promotion or repetitive messaging
• Deception: Impersonation or intentional misinformation
• Exploitation: Using community access to extract value from people
• Illegal activity: Content or behavior that violates law

Pod Culture

Pods are small communities (2-12 people) with their own norms. Pod leaders may establish additional guidelines that:

• Align with this Community Code
• Are clearly communicated to all members
• Are enforced consistently and fairly

Pod-specific rules cannot override PLAIT's core protections around consent, privacy, and safety.

Kids & Safety

PLAIT Kids operates with heightened protections:

• Guardian consent required: Children cannot sign up without parental approval
• Moderated environments: All Kids spaces have active oversight
• Age-appropriate content: Clear separation from adult community features
• No direct messaging: Communication happens in group settings only
• Educator partnerships: Designed with schools and child development experts

Conflict & Resolution

When things go wrong, we respond with proportionality and humanity:

• Report concerns: Through the app or via email
• Human review: No automated bans for ambiguous cases
• Proportional response: Consequences match the violation
• Appeals process: Contested decisions can be reviewed by a different team member
• Transparency: We explain moderation decisions when asked

We review all reports within 48 hours. Consequences range from warnings to permanent removal, depending on severity.

Economic Philosophy

PLAIT is not free, and it's not venture-funded. It's member-supported — designed to be sustainable without extraction. Commerce should be honest, clear, and mutually beneficial.

Value exchange, not extraction. No ads, no algorithms, no upsells.

Membership

PLAIT membership is simple and transparent:

• $20/month, one tier: Everyone gets full access
• No premium features: No upsells, no locked capabilities
• Member-supported: Your membership funds the platform
• Cancel anytime: No contracts, no penalties

If membership lapses, your data remains accessible but some features pause until you renew.

Support

Supporters help expand access without affecting governance:

• Individual donors: Fund memberships for those who need it
• Sponsors: Underwrite PLAIT Kids, community events, partner programs
• Impact Partners: Organizations that fund access at scale

Support is separated from governance. Donors don't get votes or special features — they get the satisfaction of helping others access PLAIT.

Practice Events

How Sessions, PLAI-Dates, and events are priced:

• PLAIT-run Sessions: Included with membership
• Partner-run Sessions: Partners choose pricing (free, ticketed, or member-included)
• PLAI-Dates: Usually free or low-cost, may be sponsored
• Special events: Pricing set by organizer, clearly communicated

Prosper (Marketplace)

Members can offer goods and services through Prosper:

• Products: Downloadable digital goods (guides, worksheets, resources)
• Templates: PLAIT structures and frameworks
• Services: Consulting, coaching, or custom work packages
• Sessions: Live 1:1 or group sessions

Provider Expectations

• Accurate descriptions: Offerings must match what's delivered
• Clear pricing: No hidden fees or surprise charges
• Honest claims: No misleading promises or guarantees
• Responsive communication: Answer buyer questions promptly
• Delivery commitment: Fulfill orders within stated timeframes

Fees & Payments

• PLAIT charges a platform fee on marketplace transactions
• Payment processing handled through secure third-party providers
• Payouts processed according to your account settings
• Providers are responsible for their own taxes

Disputes & Refunds

We encourage Providers and buyers to resolve issues directly. If needed:

• Contact the Provider first with your concern
• If unresolved, request PLAIT mediation
• Refund eligibility depends on offering type and circumstances
• Repeated disputes may affect Provider standing

No Extractive Incentives

PLAIT's economic model is designed to avoid the traps of platform capitalism:

• No ads: You are not the product
• No algorithms: We don't manipulate your attention
• No data sales: Your information stays yours
• No upsells: All features included, no premium tier
• No engagement metrics: We don't optimize for time-on-platform
